CRIMEAN CANNONS - WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Cannon Yard or Square
Eton College
junction of Common Lane and Slough Road
Eton
Berkshire
England
SL4 6DW

This Crimean Cannon is located on the forecourt of one of the school buildings of Eton College. The particular building houses the Geography department. It is readily accessible from the road and can be viewed through the railings if the gates are shut. The plaque on the gun indicates that it was restored in 2001 by John Slough of London, a gunsmith. (click website below for more details)

High Thames Street runs south from the bridge over the Thames at Eton. The gun points directly up the street to the bridge and in the distance Windsor Castle can be seen overlooking the landscape.
